SilverServers December 2022 Newsletter
December 2nd 2022
The snow is flying here in Kamloops, and as the holiday season winds up, we want to give you an update on whatps happening at SilverServers. Welcome to the December 2022 newsletter!
Lorne Street Is Open
Construction on Lorne Street has been a recurring and important topic here at SilverServers. Construction is not complete, but now that the ground is frozen, construction has nearly halted. In late November, Extreme Excavating graded the dirt road between the Red Bridge and 10th Ave, then opened up the road all the way through. This means that, at least for a couple of months, access to SilverServers and the Kamloops Data Centre is wide open again! We suggest sticking to the posted speed limit with the unpaved road being very bumpy, and we look forward to seeing you!
November Website Launches
https://celticcontractingltd.net/
In November, we launched Celtic Contracting’s new website! Celtic Contracting is a general contractor in Edmonton who is very interested in helping upgrade homes or creating custom spaces in homes for recreation or running a small business. Need to create a home yoga studio or a home theatre room? Look to Celtic Contracting. For their website, we took their old design and made some slight adjustments for mobile-friendliness and to allow it to become a multi-page website. We’re excited to be working with the team!
Additionally, we’re managing their new social media pages. Check them out on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram to learn more about what they’re all about, and feel free to give them a like or follow! The social media team is having fun with their pages.
Curling!
At the end of November, our team joined the Internet Archive Canada team to try our hand at curling. The Kamloops Curling Club graciously helped us all learn the basics, and some of us eventually landed our rocks on target! We’re all hooked. If you're looking for a fun activity to try this winter, consider an evening of curling!
Time Tracking Tool
In November’s newsletter, we announced that our time tracking tool was entering the beta testing phase. Testing has gone very well! This month, our entire team moved over to using this new tool. The transition has been positive! The tracker’s simplicity makes it easy to switch between tasks or create new ones, and the management and report generation features are valuable and easy to use.
We look forward to sharing more about task2time.com as we keep refining and testing!
Blog and Social Media Synergy
As any reader of these newsletters may know by now, we like to read content from the BDC (Busines Development Bank of Canada). Recently, they posted a great article about marketing. Our team thoroughly enjoyed their article, but thought they could have added an extra point to what they wrote - so we wrote a marketing tip article that added to theirs. We posted it, then posted it on social media. A short couple of days later, one of the BDC’s senior business advisors posted our article on LinkedIn, commenting positively about taking the effort to add value to their team’s content! We were excited to see our work highlighted.
Content writing and social media have the potential to work well together and create unexpected opportunities for getting your business in front of a larger audience. Contact our content writing and social media teams if you want to look at ways we can help your blog and social media efforts work together!
Common Year-End Questions about Grassroots SEO Services
At this time of year, as small businesses review and plan budgets, we often receive many questions about the value of what we do. For the past 3 or 4 years, we’ve taken the most common December and January questions and written blog articles in response to them. If you’re a SilverServers client planning your 2023 marketing budget, we recommend reviewing some of the articles in the Business Marketing and SEO section of our blog. You may find we’ve answered your question there! If you can’t find what you need there, or prefer conversations over blog posts, please reach out to set up a phone, video, or in-person meeting with us!
One particular series of articles you may find valuable there is our 2019 series about Digital Marketing vs SEO.
An article worth checking out is our president’s 2018 article about figuring out which category of business website your domain falls into.
Tip of the Month
This “Tip of the Month” comes from the tech support and software development team. They decided to share something fun, with December being the most wonderful time of the year.
A small few of our websites contain small features that exist just for fun. These features make it fun to show off a website, even if the content of the site might be considered boring. For example, if you’re reading this newsletter on a phone, give your phone a quick shake and look at the SilverServers logo at the top of the page! With each shake, the logo flips.
Small features like this can be fun, and they’re often really easy to build into the code of the site. If you haven’t worked on your site in a while and you’re looking for something fun to do with it, consider adding something small like this! Contact our web development team with an idea, and we’ll look at adding it!
Thanks for checking out this month’s newsletter! The SilverServers team wishes you a happy and safe holiday season. See you in 2023!
