No registrar games
Big-box registrars run a playbook: “premium” DNS tiers, WHOIS privacy that should be default, aggressive auto-renew upsells, redemption fees buried in fine print. We don’t run it. Registrations go through OpenSRS for gTLDs and CIRA for .ca, DNS runs on our own infrastructure, and support is a person in Kamloops — not a ticket bot.
Pick how hands-on you want to be: drive it yourself through the self-serve portal, or hand it to us and stay out of the panel. Same backbone either way.

From renewal to release
There’s a lifecycle between registration and release. Each stage has different rules, different costs, and a different chance of getting the name back. This is why renewal reminders aren’t a gimmick.
Registered
Day one. The registration is live with the registry — OpenSRS for gTLDs, CIRA for .ca.
Renewal due
The anniversary approaches. We send reminders in advance. Multi-year renewals save money and skip the window entirely.
Grace period
Renewal date passed. The domain still resolves during the grace window — renew at the normal price, no penalty. Length varies by TLD.
Redemption
+ $150
Grace ended. The domain stops resolving. Recovery is still possible, but the ICANN restoration fee applies.
Dropped
Released to the public pool after a short pending-delete window. Anyone can register it. The only way back is buying it — if it’s still available.
Moving a domain to us
Same process for a single domain or a dozen. No downtime if DNS is set up before the switch.
Step 1
At your current registrar: remove the transfer lock, then request the auth code (sometimes called EPP code or authinfo). Most registrars email it; some make you dig through account settings.
Step 2
Forward us the auth code and your contact email. We submit the transfer to OpenSRS. Your current registrar receives a confirmation request and emails you to approve.
Step 3
You click approve on the email from your old registrar. The transfer completes within ICANN’s 5-day window — often faster. We set DNS up in parallel so nothing goes dark at the switchover.
